Why You Should Make the Switch to VoIP

why-VOIP

VoIP is now the de facto standard for office communications for any new start up, SMB or Company looking to revamp their phone systems. There are several factors on why VOIP should be the system that you implement to keep up with the ever changing landscape of technology. The feature sets of VoIP compared to the classic analog phone system gives your business the opportunity to simplify communications with your clients and to satisfy your business needs.

VoIP vs Analog

VoIP, or Voice over Internet Protocol, is a method for taking analog audio signals, like the kind you hear when you talk on the phone, and turning them into digital data that can be transmitted over the Internet.

An analog phone system is the traditional landline phone service which is commonly known as Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN), analog phone service allows subscribers to communicate with one another through a copper wire subscriber loop which runs from a central switch office to many homes and businesses.

Why VoIP

VoIP compared to the Analog Phone System has several advantages due to VoIP being more modular and the Internet being a necessity for all businesses in the digital age.

VoIP offers several benefits such as:

  • Cost
  • Virtual Numbers
  • Advanced Call Routing/Forwarding
  • Better Conference Calls with more Lines
  • Digital Voicemail and Missed Call Notifications
  • Video Conferencing

These benefits along with the easy integration of a VoIP system into any company allow VoIP to be the de facto standard. The modularity of VoIP also gives rise to the expanding feature set of VoIP and allows more features to be added in the future.

Analog with VoIP

Integrating Analog with VoIP is definitely possible if you already have an Analog Phone System. It is recommended that you switch the whole system over to VoIP but there may be situations where you need to stay with the analog phone system.

If this is the case, there are multiple analog to VoIP adapters which will automatically translate the signal from an analog signal to a digital signal which will allow you to utilise the system with VoIP. You do not have to worry about compatibility issues as these devices handle all the translation for you and acts as a transparent layer in which your analog device will continue to receive analog signals whilst the other end will receive a digital signal translated by these devices.
